A part-time licensed Teacher for the Visually Impaired / Orientation and Mobility Specialist (OMS) is needed at a K-12 school in Grove City, OH for the current school year (CSY) on a contract basis. This role supports students with visual impairments by providing specialized instruction and mobility training to foster independence, confidence, and academic success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver individualized instruction tailored to the unique needs of students with visual impairments
- Conduct orientation and mobility training to enhance safe, effective navigation in various environments
- Collaborate with teachers, support staff, and families to develop and implement appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEPs)
- Utilize assistive technology and adaptive strategies to maximize student learning and independence
- Assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies accordingly
- Maintain accurate documentation and comply with state and federal guidelines
Qualifications and Experience:
- Current licensure as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired and/or Orientation and Mobility Specialist certification
- Experience working with K-12 students with visual impairments
- Strong understanding of assistive technology and specialized instructional methods
- Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
