Paramedic Ambulance Des Moines Full Time

Employment Type: Full time Shift: Description: Provides professional care for acutely ill and injured patients incorporating the education and skills of a certified paramedic, for all age groups in a ground ambulance, pre-hospital, and hospital environment (emergency and critical care). Is guided by Mercy Ambulance Protocols or direct medical control. Serves as a preceptor for new employees, chairs standing committees, and works with management staff to provide quality assurance on patient transports.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED :

• Current certification as a Paramedic (PM) in the State of Iowa with the Critical Care Endorsement.
• Minimum of 3 years recent, full-time experience functioning as critical care paramedic, providing direct patient care.
• Demonstrates proficiency with advance airways, advance ventilators, and other medical equipment.
• Is experienced in the care and transport of Pediatric Patients.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) for the Healthcare Provider certification prior to employment with Mercy Ambulance and maintain current certification American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification prior to employment with Mercy Ambulance and maintain current certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification prior to employment and maintain current certification.
• Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training specific to population served within three (3) months of hire.
