We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator | Project Manager to oversee both the estimating and project management functions for our construction projects. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of heavy civil construction, along with a proven ability to manage project timelines, budgets, and client relationships. This role will involve analyzing project specifications, creating cost estimates, coordinating with project teams, and ensuring timely project completion while maintaining high-quality standards.

 

Key Responsibilities: Estimating:

  • Analyze blueprints, specifications, and other project documents to determine labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
  • Gather quotes from suppliers and subcontractors to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Develop comprehensive cost estimates, including contingency plans and risk assessments.
  • Prepare detailed project proposals for clients, providing clear breakdowns of estimated costs and scope.

Project Management:

  • Manage project timelines and schedules to ensure projects are completed on time.
  • Monitor project budgets, track expenses, and identify potential cost overruns or savings.
  • Oversee the procurement process, including selecting subcontractors and suppliers, and negotiating contracts.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, and other project team members to ensure project specifications are met.
  • Ensure that all work complies with relevant codes, regulations, and safety standards.

Communication and Client Relations:

  • Present project estimates and proposals to clients, ensuring transparency and clarity.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to provide project updates, address challenges, and respond to changes.
  • Address client concerns promptly and professionally, working to resolve issues quickly.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Review project documents and specifications for accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct site visits to assess project conditions and progress.
  • Manage change orders and ensure all alterations to project scope are accounted for properly.
  • Perform quality control checks throughout the project lifecycle to ensure work meets specified standards.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks to prevent delays or budget overruns.
  • Report on project progress, including financial status, to senior management regularly.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of heavy civil construction practices, materials, and industry standards.
  • Proficiency in construction estimating software (e.g., HeavyBid) and project management software (e.g., Procore).
  • Experience with project management, including budgeting, scheduling, and procurement.
  • Familiarity with scheduling software (Primavera P6) preferred.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and mitigate issues.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with an ability to maintain client relationships.
  • Detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional site visits.
  • Ability to manage deadlines and multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and work in various weather conditions during site visits.
