Bakery Bench Manager

We have an exciting position opening for a FT Bakery Bench Manger for our NJ Store locations. This position will work with our NJ store Bakeries ensuring the proper flow and production of our baked goods.

The Bakery Bench Manager is responsible for conducting interviews, hiring suitable bakery staff, and ensuring that the operations and the orders for specialty cakes are completed on time. The Bakery Manager should be able to achieve exceptional customer service and enforce staff compliance with food health and safety regulations. This position has responsibility to all stores either on LI or NJ region.

Responsibilities

• Ensuring that the bakery is adequately stocked with quality baking ingredients and supplies
• Ensuring that baking tools, utensils, and equipment are properly cleaned and sanitized
• Creating suitable work schedules for staff members
• Appraising staff performance and carrying out the necessary disciplinary measures to address poor performance
• Training staff to produce high-quality bakery items while following proper food handling procedures
• Following department plan and merchandising to correctly place and market bakery items in display cases
• Inspecting bakery items to ensure that established standards on quality, uniformity, and aesthetic appeal are met
• Resolving customer complaints in a professional manner
• Other duties and functions as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Associate's degree in culinary arts or baking and pastry arts is preferred
• Proven experience managing a bakery or similar industry
• Must have an active and unexpired food handler's license
• Sound knowledge of different baking techniques
• The ability to work under pressure
• Outstanding problem-solving skills and management skills are a must
• Effective communication and customer service skills
• Must be computer literate and comfortable with using a calculator with the knowledge of basic math
• Must be fluent in the English language

Working Conditions

• Most of the time is spent moving about continuously on hard surfaces. There may be a need to frequently position oneself to examine and/or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.
• May require lifting objects up to 30 pounds. May require lifting and moving heavy and/or awkward objects more than 30 pounds with assistance.
• Usually in a comfortable indoor environment surrounded by moving machinery and/or loud equipment that may require shouting in order to be heard. There could be exposure to temperature extremes from freezers, ovens, and/or coolers.
• There may be occasional exposure to cleaning agents.
