Under the administrative supervision of the Director of Safety/Security and Operations; develops, directs, and administers the agency's Safety and Security. The Supervisor of Safety and Security is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of all components of the comprehensive safety and security program, contract security, and police special duty for Franklin County Children Services (FCCS). The position serves as a leadership position, participating in all safety and security related discussions, emergency and crisis planning, and serving as liaison between FCCS and local first responders.

  • Provides management and oversight of all contracted security staff, to include: Acting as single point of contact; Develops and performs routine review of expectations and operations on premises with security providers to ensure competencies of assigned contract staff to perform their role - licensure, certification, orientation and on-going training as to the physical premises and mission and guiding principles of agency, highlighting de-escalation and non- lethal strategies, when interacting with the children and families that are being served; Ensures appropriate coverage by overseeing scheduling of contract security officers (both private security and special duty law enforcement); Ensures completion of daily logs/detailed reports by security providers and monitors, follows up on critical incidents, behavior of suspicious persons and or vehicles on premises and communicates with the Director of Safety/ Security and Operations regarding incidents, as appropriate
  • Responsible for the assessment of security for staff and visitors within the facilities and on the exterior grounds of the buildings; Develops and maintains safety and security plans; Recommends policies and operating procedures or changes thereto, related to safety and security of staff, buildings and visitors; Recommends, establishes & implements policies, procedures and formal trainings for staff related to safety and security; Works with the Director of Safety/Security and Operations to develop and implement exercises and drills for active assailant, lockdown, and evacuation
  • Performs routine and non-routine administrative tasks and duties; Responds to manage crisis situations; Receives and responds to inquiries, concerns and complaints regarding safety and security related issues; Acts as liaison with representatives of local state and federal government agencies/departments to ensure cooperation and coordination of security activities; Works with department heads and to identify threats to safety and security; Works in collaboration with the Director of Safety/Security and Operations to ensure optimal electronic security system, including access control systems; Manages the security video systems, duress and intrusion alarms. Compiles statistical data and provides reports evaluating the efficacy of security measures, strategies, and services; Attends, participates in, or leads committee meetings as assigned.
  • 12 mos. trg. or 12 mos. exp. in security practices & procedures
  • 3 mos. trg. or 3 mos. exp. in operation of electronic detection equipment & shortwave radio
  • 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in supervisory principles/techniques
  • 1 course or 3 mos. exp. in employee training & development
  • Unusual Work Conditions: On call 24 hrs. day, 7 days week.
  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field
  • 3 years' experience in supervisory capacity in a security or public safety organization or equivalent
  • OPOTA certification or equivalent
  • Knowledge of security and police administration and training, state & federal regulations, contracts, policies & procedures related to security operations
  • Skill in operation of safety and security equipment, including wands, magnetometer and the operation of firearms.
  • Experience in program and financial management, community planning, policy development, legislative and community affairs; demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Ability to deal with complex variables & determine priority for course of action
  • Ability to handle sensitive contacts with public & government officials
  • Ability to review & write technical and administrative reports relating to safety and security of staff and a public facility
  • A valid driver's license.

Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Hours based upon agency need
