Mission
At Slalom, personal connection meets global scale. Our vision is to enable a world in which everyone loves their work and life. We help organizations of all kinds redefine what's possible, give shape to the future-and get there. Within Slalom, our Build capability helps customers maximize the value of the software they create. We do this by
- Being fast, effective, high-quality, and consistent
- Evolving our software development lifecycle by blending cutting-edge AI tooling with outcome-focused strategic thinking
- Delivering end-to-end to our customers at any scale and at any point in their journey.
You will be an architect within the Build capability, owing the architecture of the products we build for our customers and redefine our AIempowered software development lifecycle (SDLC). You'll cocreate the flows, patterns, guardrails, and tools that make AI a firstclass citizen across design, build, test, release, and operations-so we ship delightful, reliable products faster. And lead teams driving the adoption of AI engineering practices.
Who you'll work with
You'll join a tightly knit product team-engineers, product leaders, designers, and data practitioners-who cocreate modern software with our customers. We move from discovery to delivery together, pairing on code, pressuretesting ideas with real users, and turning learnings into shipready increments. You'll collaborate with customer stakeholders and field teams to bring outsidein insights into the roadmap, and you'll help enable clients on the practices and tools we use so they can sustain value long after launch. Think craftdriven Builders who care about outcomes, not just output.
What you'll do
- Redefine the AIempowered SDLC: Codesign the flows, patterns, guardrails, and tooling that make AI integral from ideation through operations-planning, design, code, test, release, and run. Your north star: shorter cycle time, higher quality, happier users.
- Cocreate playbooks & platforms: Turn experiments into repeatable practices-prompt libraries, context packs, evaluation harnesses, codegen scaffolds, review bots, and CI/CD hooks-so teams adopt AI safely and at scale.
- Build with prompt & context engineering: Apply prompt engineering (templates, roles, selfcritique) and context engineering (RAG, embeddings, vector stores, grounding data contracts) to make LLMs accurate, reliable, and costaware.
- Orchestrate AI workflows: Design and ship LLM orchestration (agents, tool/usecase routing, function calling, multistep workflows) for product features and developer workflows; instrument telemetry, evals, and safety from day one.
- Lead architecture, stay handson: Own product architecture (APIs, data, reliability, security). Write code where it counts-prototyping thin slices, proving value quickly, and hardening to production with CI/CD, IaC, and observability.
- Partner and enable: Run design sessions, demos, and enablement with customers; translate complex AI concepts into clear business value and teach teams how to work the new way.
- Mentor & uplevel: Coach engineers on system design, AIaccelerated development (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude Code), and modern delivery. Cultivate a culture of curiosity, speed, and craft.
What you'll bring
- Track record: 5+ years building and operating production software; led architecture for a meaningful product or platform.
- Architect skills: Deep familiarity with microservices, API design, eventing, data stores, reliability, security, and cloud primitives.
- AIaccelerated development: Daily driver of AI coding tools; opinionated about prompts, review workflows, and when to trust vs. verify generated code.
- LLM integration: Experience shipping LLMpowered features (prompt design, evals, token/cost hygiene, telemetry). Bonus: agents, vector stores, model routing.
- Programming: Proficiency in languages common to our stack (e.g., TypeScript/Node, Python, Java) and modern frontend frameworks (e.g., React/Next). Ability to quickly learn new tech where needed.
- Cloud & DevOps: Handson with AWS/Azure/GCP, containers (Docker/Kubernetes), CI/CD, IaC, and production observability.
- Communication & product sense: Translate between executives, customers, and engineers; write crisp docs, clear diagrams, and run compelling demos
Nice to have
- MLOps & governance: Model evaluations, safety/ethics, redteaming, drift monitoring, feature stores.
- Data & search: Experience with embeddings, vector databases (e.g., pgvector, Pinecone), and retrieval strategies.
- Frameworks & tooling: LangChain/LlamaIndex, OpenAI/Anthropic/Google model APIs, GitHub Actions, Terraform, Backstage/IDP.
- Community: Opensource contributions, talks, or writing on AIaccelerated engineering.
