Brown & Brown is seeking a Senior Underwriter Housing / Habitational to join our growing team in Ephrata, WA!
The Senior Underwriter Housing / Habitational responsible for underwriting and associated tasks for existing and new programs at an advanced level of knowledge and difficulty while under minimal supervisory direction, with a focus on complex housing and habitational risks.
How You Will Contribute:
Make independent underwriting decisions using discretion.
Underwrite new applications and renewal submissions according to Letter of Authority, if applicable.
Determine acceptability of business.
Assist organization in formulating underwriting strategies for continued growth and profitability, including involvement with market comparisons.
Implement methods for promotion of policies or improvements to processes.
Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring quality control efforts.
Serve as a resource for organization on underwriting and technical insurance issues.
Aid in developing risk management strategies for habitational providers.
Assist in the marketing of programs to carriers along with existing and prospective insureds.
Prepare accurate renewal specifications for carriers.
Oversight of document issuance; policies, endorsements, quotes etc. issued without errors.
Review carrier quotes, binders, and policy forms to verify coverage requested for pool or insured is provided.
Oversight of the preparation of premium/exposure reports for the carriers (quarterly) and Accounting (monthly), also known as Bordereaux Reports.
Analysis of property inspection reports and tracking of associated action items
Other job-related projects or assignments as delegated.
Licenses and Certifications:
Valid driver's license.
Ability to obtain a Washington State Property & Casualty Insurance Producers License (courses provided by Company).
Skills & Experience to Be Successful:
High school diploma.
Associate or Bachelor's Degree (preferred)
Math skills such as Business Math or basic accounting functions.
At least 5 years' experience as a Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriter.
10+ years' experience as a Commercial Property & Casualty Underwriter.
Underwriting expertise in large multi-story/multi-residential, rental homes/dwellings, and commercial structures. (preferred)
Experience in casualty and professional liability underwriting of multi-residential and associated nonprofit services exposures. (preferred)
Familiarity with different types of habitational occupancies such as permanent housing, shelters, transitional housing, permanent supportive housing, rapid rehousing, rental assistance , and others. (preferred)
Pay Range
$70k - $90k AnnualThe pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
