Job Summary and Qualifications

JOBSUMMARY:

We are seeking aTrauma Registered NurseLeadto join our healthcare team. Yourprimary function is to provide direct nursing carein accordance withestablished policies, procedures, and protocols of the healthcare organization.You will proactivelyassume responsibility and accountability for several patients during a designatedtime framewhile following policies and procedures.You will work with a phenomenal team that cares like family and works together in a collaborative manner.

In this role you will:

The Trauma Nurse Lead provides direct nursing carein accordance withestablished policies and procedures.In collaboration with the patient, the patients family and other members of the health care team, the trauma nurseleadassesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and coordinates treatment plans. Demonstrates strong trauma clinical assessment, nursing intervention, andstrong communication/leadership skills.In addition to clinicalresponsibilitiesthe Trauma Nurse Lead provides trauma program support.

Responsibilities include, although are not limited to:

  1. Responds to trauma bays for all Trauma Alerts

  1. Responsible for trauma bay readiness

  1. Modelsbehaviorat all times, andmentorstrauma nurse responders

  1. Coordinates and triages incoming trauma patients, and reviews/evaluates all activations for triage level appropriateness

  1. Functions as a clinical liaison for pre-hospital partners

  1. Responsible for documentation compliance; performs audits and provides feedback

  1. Assiststo coordinate admission consultations and response times for time-sensitive needs

  1. Facilitates trauma bay time outs and debriefings in collaboration with primary surgeon

  1. Monitors care provision for trauma patients holding in ED for admission

  1. Responds to in-house trauma patients critical needs

  1. Daily rounding on in-house trauma patients; Provides outstanding customer service to trauma patients and their families.

  1. Identifiesand reports on trauma audit filters

  1. Attends daily multi-disciplinary rounds (IDTs) with the trauma service providers

  1. Performs focused patient rounds based on current PI projects

  1. Assistswith real-time education through training and in-service needs in the ED and inpatient units

  1. Participates in scholarly activities

  1. Assistswith the coordination of the operative patient, including pre-op readiness

  1. Assistsin obtaining vascular access with midline and ultrasound guided IV placement

  1. Completes SBIRT and mental health screenings/assessments for eligible patients

  1. Assistsas needed during massive transfusion of traumapatientshospital-wide

  1. Regularly communicates with the charge nurses on all units with trauma patients

  1. When not performing other assigned duties, willassistwith tasks in the provision of care in the ED and trauma inpatient units (no patient assignments; must be able toimmediatelypivot out of task if needed).

  1. Assistswith chart abstraction and patient follow-up for active research projects

  1. Participates in disaster preparedness activities

  1. Participates in other duties as assigned by the director of trauma services

Job Requirements:

  • Graduatedfrom an NLN accredited school of nursing. Current BSN or currently enrolled, graduation within 2 years of hire.

  • Florida RN license and/or approved multistate RN licenserequired. Compact license holders have60 daysto obtain the Florida license after relocation.

  • BLS-AHA Provider issued cardrequiredwithin30 daysof start

  • ACLS, TNCC, PALS, ENPC, within 6 months of hire

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in critical care or emergency nursing.

  • BSN,TCRN,CEN, or CCRN, and a minimum of 1 year in trauma care preferred
