The Engineer 3, Electric Bulk Transmission Engineer will Apply senior level
engineering principles to interpret, analyze, organize and execute all documents
associated with compliance to North American Electric Reliability Corporation
(NERC) Reliability Standards as it relates to the integrity of the MLGW Bulk
Electric System (BES); perform power flow and short circuit studies of MLGW
transmission system; recommend corrective action for violations; coordinate
system model data exchange with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA); and serve
as Subject Matter Expert (SME) during external audits and during electric system
crises. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Perform power flow and short circuit studies; preoutage
system evaluation studies for Systems Operation for planned and
emergency outages; and transmission system Impact/feasibility studies of
MLGW transmission system. Conduct and manage complex internal projects
such as the write/maintain Electric Master Plan report, Transmission ampacity
book and FERC documents; and submit in a timely manner. Recommend
corrective action for violations using best utility economic analyses practices.
and maintain all records of pertinent studies as required by FERC, NERC and
SERC. Assist in the MLGW Culture of Excellence NERC training program, and
update the Executive staff on NERC documentation progress and Master Plan
schedule, as needed. Act as MLGW Transmission Planner liaison to TVA as
related to Bulk Planning, FERC, NERC and SERC reliability standards. Serve as
Subject Matter Expert (SME) during external SERC audits and during electric
system crises. Stay abreast of/participate in the latest developments of
standards for FERC, NERC, SERC, TVA, etc.; coordinate system model data
exchange with TVA. Operate Division vehicle. Perform other duties as directed.
LICENSES AND
CERTIFICATIONS
A valid Drivers's from state of residence is required.
A valid Tennessee Professional Engineering License is preferred.

EDUCATION bachelor's degree in Electric Engineering is required.
EXPERIENCE Must have 4-6 years of engineering experience in the creation and interpretation
of power flow cases and bulk transmission planning; and appropriate
performance appraisal rating(s).
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Must successfully complete NIMS Training within 1 year of entering job. Must
have an occupationally significant combination of knowledge of and the ability to
apply senior level principles of engineering/methods to NERC, regulatory
requirements and compliance of transmission system; knowledge of computer
applications, engineering economy and statistics; organizational
ability to plan, formulate and carry out programs/projects; oral/written
communication skills; resource management skills; integrity; analytical ability to
solve complex problems; ability to work as
a team; and promote safe work practices. Physical Demands: Requires
sedentary work involving standing or walking for brief periods, exerting up to 10
pounds or more of force on a regular basis.
