Software Engineer Sr Stf - GMD Weapons Systems (GWS)
- Lockheed Martin
- Colorado Springs, Colorado
- Full Time
What We're Doing
Become a part of something IMPACT-ful! Ground Missile Defense (GMD) is the heart of the Missile Defense System and a key element of our nations defense against ballistic missile attacks.
The GMD Weapon System (GWS) processes data from multiple sensors to identify and characterize the inbound ballistic missile threat, plans the best defensive solution, and launches the intercepting missiles to negate the threat.
The Work
The selected candidate will become part of the Ground-based Mid-course Defense (GMD) Weapon System (GWS) Contract in support of the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). The GMD Program is a critical part of the nations layered Ballistic Missile Defense System providing the US with the capability to engage and intercept long range ballistic missile threats during midcourse flight. The Ground Systems component of GMD provides the capability to process data received from radars and overhead sensors, communicate across a complex network of redundant nodes, interact with the warfighter, compute intercept solutions, command and direct the ground based interceptors to their targets.
Essential Functions:
Maintain lab and mininode configurations to include adding, removing, updating redhat package manager modules (RPMs) for testing/verification
Produce lab runs to test and evaluate new software capabilities as well as perform daily log file management
Create scenarios and input files to evaluate specific conditions and software behaviors in the GMD Fire Control software
Perform message tracing between portions of GFC software to ensure system functions as intended
Investigate and document issues discovered during lab runs and provide log files to software developers
Attain/Maintain Security+ certification and continuation education training requirements for a privileged user account
Support daily Scrum meetings
