Join an Owner-Operated Private Practice Where Relationships Come First
Trapp Optical, established in 1945, is a long-standing, owner-operated optometric practice providing exceptional medical eye care, comprehensive eye exams, and high-quality eyewear to patients in Greenwich, CT, Rye, NY, and Bronxville, NY. We are more than a business, we’re a legacy built on trust, compassion, and clinical excellence.

For nearly 80 years, we’ve treated every patient like a member of our extended family. Our low staff turnover and long-term team members reflect a deep commitment to creating a positive, fulfilling workplace. We’re now looking for a caring, clinically skilled Licensed Optometrist who shares our patient-first approach and passion for optometric care in a close-knit setting.

Your Role as an Optometrist:

  • Conduct comprehensive eye examinations for vision correction, preventative care, and ocular disease detection.
  • Diagnose and manage chronic eye conditions such as glaucoma, dry eye syndrome, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
  • Perform contact lens fittings (including specialty and toric lenses), refractive assessments, and binocular vision evaluations.
  • Collaborate with our expert optical staff to provide patients with customized prescription glasses and contact lenses.
  • Use state-of-the-art diagnostic technology to ensure accurate, effective eye health evaluations.
  • Build lasting relationships with patients, many of whom have trusted us for decades, by treating them with the same care and attention you'd give your own family.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry school.
  • Must hold or be willing to obtain a Connecticut Optometry License.
  • Therapeutic licensure required to diagnose and manage ocular disease.
  • Open to new graduates or experienced ODs who are passionate about private practice optometry.
  • Excellent chairside manner, strong diagnostic skills, and a warm, engaging communication style.
  • Comfortable working independently and collaborating with a small, loyal team.

Position Highlights:

  • Part-Time Schedule: 3 days per week (with flexible scheduling options).
  • Per Diem or 1099 Independent Contractor status also considered.
  • Serve patients in a low-volume, relationship-driven setting with time to provide quality care, no rushed exams.

Why Trapp Optical?

  • We’re a multi-location, owner-run practice where quality care and genuine relationships come before quotas.
  • Our team members stay with us for years, not only because of the positive work environment, but because they feel valued and connected.
  • Our patients aren’t just names on a chart, they’re part of our extended family, and many have been coming to us for generations.
  • You’ll have the chance to make a meaningful difference in people’s lives every day while enjoying the autonomy and satisfaction that private optometry practice provides.

Benefits:

  • Vision plan and free prescription glasses for the optometrist
  • No corporate bureaucracy, direct connection to ownership and a collaborative team
  • A warm, stable environment where optometrists can grow and thrive without burning out
