MedStar Health is seeking adedicated and engaged Assistant Nursing Director to lead the IV TherapyDepartment . As a member of our Division of Nursing's (DON)leadership/management team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the futureof patient care in this specialized field.
Position Overview
Incollaboration with the Nursing Director the Assistant Nursing Director isresponsible for the leadership and management of the Pulmonary Unit at MedStarWashington Hospital Center. The Assistant Nursing Director fosters associatescommitment to improving quality, safety, and cost-conscious patient careoutcomes. This role offers the chance to direct and coordinate the nursing andpatient care delivery of the unit-based professional and support personnel. Asa nursing leader, you will promote an environment that aligns with the Divisionof Nursing and MedStar Health's mission, vision, and values.
Unit Highlights
The IV Therapy Department provides vascular access to patients across theentire hospital. The skilled RNs placeperipheral IV lines, insert and maintain PICC (Peripherally Inserted CentralCatheter) lines, and are the experts in ultrasound guided catheterinsertion. The department frequentlyleads training sessions and contributes to research projects and process improvementprocesses throughout the department of Nursing.
Key Responsibilities
Incollaboration with the Nurse Director, develops department goals, objectivesand ensures compliance with hospital policy and procedure, clinical practice,guidelines, and regulatory and accreditation standards.
Provides shift-based clinical leadership through role modeling professionalpractice behaviors, proper delegation of activities, and management of thenursing team and promotes unit activities that enhance department satisfactionan engagement.
Collaborate with the nursing leadership team, Medical Staff, and leaders ofother departments/disciplines to ensure seamless patient care.
Participates in patient rounding to review patient status and connect withpatient and family.
Collaborates with the Nursing Director in the hiring, evaluation, promotion,and termination of personnel within the department as needed and initiatescoaching and counseling of associates.
Maintains clinical knowledge and skills and engages in the provision of directcare for a caseload of patients as required.
Assumes administrative responsibilities in absence of the director and asneeded provides coverage for other colleagues.

Qualifications
Bachelors degree in nursing(Master's preferred)
DC RN License
Approximately three to four years ofprogressively more responsible job-related experience
Strong interpersonal andcommunication skills
