Job Description
Emergency Associate Veterinarian
Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists (CCVS)
Location: Buzzards Bay & Dennis, MA
Status: Full-time, Fierce, and Occasionally Fueled by Coffee
Tired of boring job ads that don’t mention snacks, sarcasm, or your deep emotional bond with your stethoscope? We’ve got you.
At Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists, we’re not just in the business of saving lives—we’re also in the business of supporting your life: your learning, your development, and yes, your moments of “did that golden just eat a sock... again?”
We’re growing, quite literally. We’re on track to expand our services and our physical space by 2027. That means more room to breathe, more departments to nerd out in, and more opportunities to collaborate with specialists who are as passionate as you are. You’ll be part of shaping what’s next as we level up our hospital and raise the bar on emergency care.
Why You’ll Love Working Here (besides the adorable patients and salty sea breeze):
- A diverse team of top-notch clinicians, specialists, and nurses who will actually help you, not just say they will.
- A culture built on constant learning—with internships, residencies, CE, and mentoring baked right into our DNA.
- Core values? We’ve got ‘em. Respect, compassion, integrity, and accountability aren't just posters in the breakroom—we live them.
- And in case you missed it: big expansion plans ahead, giving you even more space and tools to do your best work (and maybe have your own favorite crash cart).
About the Role:
You’ll be:
Triaging like a boss.
Stabilizing cases with grace and caffeine.
Developing thoughtful treatment plans (bonus points for legible writing).
Collaborating with our rockstar team of techs, interns, residents, and specialists.
Communicating with clients like a pro—even if they show you 32 photos of “what the poop looked like this morning.”
Helping teach and mentor the next generation of vet med heroes.
About You:
DVM/VMD (or equivalent) and MA license eligible
Internship trained or experienced in ER (no sweat if you had to Google "GDV" once—just not last week)
Strong communication skills, good critical thinking, and a healthy appreciation for teamwork
Capable of staying calm in chaos but not afraid to laugh at yourself occasionally
Passionate about learning, teaching, and maybe owning 17 scrubs with animal prints
We’ve Got the Perks:
Four-day work weeks (three-day weekends to recover and rewatch vet TikToks)
Competitive salary + relocation support if you’re not already living here in paradise
Trupanion pet insurance (because your cat is also an emotional support staff member)
Medical, dental, vision, and life insurance
CE stipend, paid time off, holidays, and all the usual grown-up stuff
Reimbursement for licenses, dues, and those alphabet soup memberships (AVMA, VIN, PLIT, MVMA—you name it)
A whole village of support staff, including doctors' assistants to help with records (because SOAPs shouldn’t ruin your day)
About Us (AKA why we’re awesome):
We’re a growing specialty and emergency hospital with locations in Buzzards Bay and Dennis, MA—basically Cape Cod’s answer to your “work hard, play beach” dreams. We serve all of Cape Cod and the Islands with 20+ specialists across 9 disciplines, and we’re obsessed with gold-standard medicine and education.
Our training programs, including rotating internships, ECC internships, and a full ECC residency, make CCVS a place where smart people come to get smarter—and you’ll be part of shaping that growth.
And did we mention? By 2027, we’re expanding! More departments. More space. More opportunities to collaborate and innovate. Whether you’re into ultrasound, trauma, transfusion medicine, or just want a bigger treatment room to stretch your legs (or teach a killer CPR session), it’s all coming.
So if you're ready to join a team where the medicine is cutting-edge, the people are hilarious (and really smart), and your ideas actually matter, we want to hear from you. And yes—we absolutely celebrate Taco Tuesdays, spontaneous cake, and clever memes.
Come see what it's like to do emergency medicine at a place where the care is serious, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously.
