Compensation: $120-140,000/year with bonus potential
OVERVIEW:
An established and growing engineering firm is seeking a Geotechnical Engineer or Environmental Engineer w/ Geotechnical focus. This is a full-time, in-office position ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a collaborative and field-intensive environment. The role involves project leadership, technical oversight, and client engagement across a diverse range of geotechnical projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lead and execute geotechnical engineering projects, including analysis, field investigations, and technical reporting
Conduct site reconnaissance, test boring inspection, and construction observation for infrastructure and development projects
Analyze soil and subsurface conditions to assess design and construction implications
Design shallow and deep foundations; perform slope stability analyses and ground improvement evaluations
Plan, execute, and manage laboratory testing programs for soil, rock, concrete, and asphalt
Review and respond to RFPs; prepare and finalize technical proposals
Serve as technical liaison to clients and project stakeholders throughout all project phases
Perform peer reviews of reports, calculations, and designs produced by junior engineers
Ensure quality, accuracy, and timeliness of deliverables in accordance with client expectations
Collaborate with cross-functional teams while also demonstrating the ability to work independently
Regular travel to project sites and client meetings (mileage reimbursement provided)
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Pennsylvania (or ability to obtain quickly)
Proven experience in geotechnical design, analysis, proposals, and reporting
Strong knowledge of soil mechanics, foundation design, slope stability, and geotechnical testing methods
Proficiency with geotechnical software such as SLOPE/W, LPILE, or similar tools
Demonstrated ability to interact with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary design teams
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Valid driver’s license and access to a personal vehicle for field assignments
Ability to perform fieldwork and laboratory testing, including lifting up to 50 pounds
Comfortable working in varying environmental and weather conditions
Capable of concentrating and maintaining attention to detail in active construction zones
Willingness to travel in accordance with company travel policy (mostly local travel, rarely overnight)
