We are currently seeking a highly motivated Inspector, Mechanical located in Los Angeles, CA .
Overview:
Mechanical inspection staff possess a thorough knowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation of plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration installations; shall have the ability to diagnose hazards of unsanitary conditions caused by faulty materials or poor workmanship. Document daily progress of work and inspect construction activities by applying knowledge of the materials and methods used in the installation of plumbing, heating, air conditioning and refrigeration installations; Diagnose and document hazards of unsanitary conditions caused by faulty materials or poor

Mechanical Inspectors must have the ability to set priorities, the ability to make decisions and work effectively with minimal supervision, the ability to deal tactfully and effectively with LAWA stakeholders, contractors, construction workers, the public and must conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times
Required Education:
- High school diploma (or equivalent)
Required Certifications/Licenses:
- Current ICC Certification as a Commercial Mechanical Inspector
- 30-hour Cal-OSHA training issued 2021 or later
- Fall protection and harness training.
Required Qualifications:
In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.
- 3 years or more of experience performing mechanical inspections on large scale Public Works type projects
- Proficient in inspection of rough and finish HVAC, plumbing installation including pumps, piping, ducts, equipment, controls, vaults and associated works both in building construction and underground piping
- Knowledge and experience with inspection of fire sprinkler systems also required for this position
- Experience with review and approval of monthly progress payment & as-built drawings from contractor required
- Ability to write clear and effective reports and is capable of working with Microsoft Office and other computer software and applications including Prolog & VEO
Responsibilities:
- Possible overtime during week and weekends may also be required
- Inspects the construction of a wide variety of airport improvements and utilities projects to ensure work, and may provide construction inspection support terminal construction projects, ensuring compliance with applicable codes and project drawings, submittals, RFis, and change orders
- Document the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE, and HOW of all observed construction activities, deficiencies, or safety concerns in a timely manner .
- Assist in validating contractor progress payment requests based on an approved schedule of values. agencies as needed
- Perform inspections of Mechanical and Plumbing installations including, but not limited to:
• Domestic Water and Sewage Systems
• Venting, fire sprinklers, and gas piping
• HVAC systems (air handlers, chillers, boilers, ductwork)
• Smoke Control Systems
• Mechanical ventilation and exhaust
• Fire and life safety integration ( e.g. smoke dampers)
• Mechanical and plumbing shutdowns, lockout / tagout procedures
• Commissioning and balancing reports
• Underground utilities
- Support special inspections and testing activities, coordinating with engineers, contractors, and
- Track and document time-and-material work, field changes, and job quantities
- Verify contractor compliance with local and national mechanical and plumbing codes, and LAWA specific standards
- Demonstrates strong proficiency in preparing comprehensive daily inspection reports that clearly
- Conduct comprehensive daily inspections of mechanical and plumbing systems across building and conformance to plans, specifications, contracts, permits, environmental documents, agreements for
Salary:
- $142,000 - $149,000.00 annually
Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
