The Rec Sports Engagement Specialist is an integral part of the Student Life Rec Sports team.
Manages the strategy and execution of outreach engagement with the Ohio State community for the Office of Student Life's Department of Recreational Sports. Has advanced knowledge of outreach and engagement concepts, principles, and technologies in recreation setting. Works with the Assistant Director of Strategy and Organizational Effectiveness to plan and implement the strategic plan, provide regular progress reports; develop relationships with campus offices; implement creative ideas and strategies to gain more involvement from the University community via all communication channels including website, social media, and other tools; Gather data and analytics; work closely with Student Life marketing staff in developing marketing strategies and processes; serve as an adviser to co-workers on strategic implementation of recreational programs. Manages promotional item budget and purchasing annually, manages creation and utilization of 40 unique marketing projects of departmental materials and deliverables in partnership with Student Life Marketing. Assists Assistant Director with annual budget development and supervision for areas of responsibility. Provide guidance and support to staff planning engagement events including Wipeout. Interacts with peers, individual contributors and stakeholders to discuss and resolve operational matters. Coordinates Fusion Go and Fusion Wave Applications including access management, scheduling of information and day to day updates. Manages promotional materials, display cases and exhibits, facility signage, apparel (uniforms and program-stores), operational needs and approval all department social media, websites and other digital content prior to posting and data assessment following university and Student Life guidelines. Coordinates social media posts and tasks for department accounts. Ensures all digital content is compliant with ADA. Supervises, hires, and trains Rec Sports Ambassador 4-6 person student staff providing coaching, feedback and direction.

MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience. Advanced degree in relevant field may be desirable. 4 years of relevant experience required. 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree, preferably in Higher Education/Student Affairs, sport management, hospitality management, marketing, or a related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience; strong interpersonal and communication skills; two years of experience in outreach and engagement strategies; excellent organizational, time-management, decision-making, and customer service skills; ability to work non-traditional hours on occasion. Previous event management and planning experience. Knowledge of all Microsoft Office products, including proficiency in Excel. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, highly organized, detail and deadline oriented, possesses a strong understanding of leadership theory and practices, and possesses a keen ability to work with people.
