Mechanical Designer

We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Designer to join our precision machine shop. The ideal candidate will be responsible for reverse engineering OEM samples and creating 2D and 3D prints to support our machining team. Success in this position requires the use of advanced CAD tools and measurement equipment. We’re looking for a candidate with a strong understanding of manufacturing principles and a hands-on approach to design verification and scanning.

Key Responsibilities

• Create and revise 2D and 3D part and assembly drawings using AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and other CAD software as needed.
• Collaborate closely with machinists, engineers, and shop supervisors to ensure manufacturability and accuracy of designs.
• Interpret sketches, blueprints, and verbal instructions to develop detailed mechanical designs.
• Operate and maintain precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges to validate part dimensions.
• Use 3D scanning equipment to capture, reverse-engineer, or verify part geometries.
• Support the quoting and production planning process by providing clear and detailed design documentation.
• Maintain organized drawing files and design records in accordance with company standards.

Qualifications

• Proficient in AutoCAD, Fusion 360, and general CAD software use.
• Experience using precision measurement tools, including calipers, micrometers, and pin gauges.
• Familiarity with 3D scanning technology and its application in design and inspection.
• Strong understanding of machining processes, tolerancing, and materials.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and GD&T.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with shop personnel.

Working Hours

• Monday to Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, with occasional overtime based on production needs
