Job Summary
The Engineering Project Manager will lead and manage one or more engineering projects, ranging from intermediate to complex in nature, including those of the highest project complexity or within a program area of projects. This role will be situated within a collaborative matrix team environment, where leadership, direction, and training will be provided to ensure successful project outcomes. Responsibilities include initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing engineering projects in a manner that prioritizes safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness while balancing associated risks. The aim is to achieve both short- and long-term engineering goals while maximizing customer satisfaction. Additionally, the project manager will maintain project transparency and foster strong relationships with all stakeholders, including internal and external customers, engineering team members, suppliers, contractors, vendors, and industry peers. Effective communication will enable these stakeholders to make informed decisions that support the successful execution of engineering projects.Job Description
What Youll Do:
Plan, organize, and supervise project and outage work activities using project management principles to ensure proficiency and success.
Ensure adherence to AEP safety policies and standards, promoting a safe working environment focused on "Zero Harm."
Develop, review, and coordinate engineering project plans, schedules, budgets, tools, and staffing effectively.
Manage project costs, reallocate funding as needed, and communicate project status updates clearly.
Lead engineering planning meetings and provide detailed stakeholder presentations and written reports.
Foster teamwork, monitor customer satisfaction, and maintain effective working relationships with all stakeholders.
Manage procurement plans and contracts for outside resources, ensuring compliance and quality in service delivery.
Manage the oversight of Outside Engineering Contractors, as needed, for additional engineering project support in collaboration with the Distribution Supervisors and advanced Engineering staff.

Communicate clearly and compellingly with all stakeholders, including engineering team members, sponsors, and senior management, using active listening skills.
Apply economic analysis techniques to engineering decision-making, ensuring alignment with project and company financial goals.
Influence and optimize Engineering & Design, Procurement, Contracting, and Construction processes to enhance project outcomes and drive business process improvements.
Utilize certifying body Project Management tools and techniques specifically tailored to engineering projects.
Conduct strategic planning and risk assessment for engineering activities, identifying and mitigating project risks while maintaining sound decision-making practices.
Organize engineering project activities, delegate technical tasks, set expectations for team members, and hold them accountable while providing constructive feedback.
Effectively manage conflicts and prioritize engineering issues, recommending solutions that align with the company's objectives.
Demonstrate proficiency in scope management, technical solution evaluation, and project risk management within engineering contexts, along with contract development and management.
Foster continuous improvement by challenging assumptions, seeking input from engineering Subject Matter Experts, and evaluating team capabilities to ensure project success.

What Were Looking For:
Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, Project Management, Computer Science, or related field of study dependent upon business unit requirements with seven (7) years qualified experience OR, two-year Associates degree in the same required disciplines with nine (9) years of qualified experience (see below). Qualified experience includes work in project management, major construction field experience, project estimating, project controls, project engineering, and/or comparable internal or external experience in a competitive production environment. Experience must include a demonstrated level of successful project management duties, business acumen, and prior responsibility for ALL the certifying body knowledge areas.
Experience Requirements: Two (2) years of experience as a PROJECT MANAGER SENIOR (Grade 8) is preferred, OR demonstrated competencies, knowledge and skillset through achieved results in a shorter timeline.
Demonstrated preparedness for specialist level PM knowledge capability in areas of construction safety, negotiations, scope development and control, cost estimating, construction contracting, project controls and reporting, quality control, risk management, etc.
Experience in utilities, commercial nuclear power, and/or IT systems is favorable.
PMP certification required.
Valid state driver's license.

$112,869.00-146,730.50 USDThe Physical Demand Level for this job is: L Light Work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or 10 to 12 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 5-6 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Physical demand requirements are in excess of those for sedentary work. Even though the weight lifted may be only a negligible amount, a job should be rated Light Work: (1) When it requires walking or standing to a significant degree; or (2) when it requires sitting most of the time, but entails pushing and/or pulling of arm or leg c ontrols; and/or (3) when the job requires working at a production rate pace entailing the constant pushing and/or pulling of materials even though the weight of those materials is negligible. NOTE: The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible
