Director of Practice Operations

Position Purpose:

The Director of Practice Operations has on-going responsibilities to provide direction for the daily operations of multiple primary care and/or specialty physician practices. This leader is accountable for achieving the financial and performance objectives of physician offices in alignment with organizational priorities for service line, acute care, and medical group operations. The Director cultivates an environment of high engagement through effective communication with physicians, practice leaders and colleagues within all practices in the designated sphere of influence.

The Director Practice Operations will need to work effectively within MCMG and MCHS in a highly matrixed fashion with key internal and external stakeholders. This role is expected to

translate strategic goals of the organization into core business initiatives and operating plans. He/she identifies and initiates change within practice locations to support and achieve the strategic objectives of the business. The incumbent is responsible for the implementation of key initiatives and processes that support the annual operating objectives of the business.

This position reports to the Chief Operating Officer for MCMG or Service Line Vice President and will maintain a strong matrix reporting relationship accountable stakeholders within MCHS. This position is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of practice operations and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems for practice leaders, colleagues, physicians, and advanced practice providers.

Minimum Requirements:

Education: Bachelors in Health Admin or related required; MHA/MBA preferred

Licensure / Certification: ACMPE credentials preferred

Experience: Minimum 5 years minimum formal leadership experience in primary care/specialty/surgical practice administration with activities including strategic communication, working with Senior Leaders to move strategic initiatives forward, as well as motivating, leading and managing successful project teams; 5-7 years of progressive involvement in healthcare-specific strategic planning and business plan development and support

Detailed knowledge and understanding of healthcare strategy, operations in integrated delivery systems, related healthcare entities and governmental regulations.

Possesses proven project management skills and ability to communicate complex issues and strategies with key leaders.

Able to develop and prepare feasibility analyses, executive-level document preparation, forecasting scenarios, system and market strategies, and ability to facilitate group discussion.

Professional maturity and technical competency/understanding in planning, data analysis, research, finance, marketing and business development.

Advanced critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Thorough understanding of external, regulatory, payor and other forces impacting health care operations

Keen understanding of current healthcare marketplace including competitors and best practice systems across the nation

Extremely proficient with personal computer applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).

Ability to mentor staff and to provide leadership in a team building environment to enhance cooperation with our internal and external customers.

Demonstrates strong project management skills with proven success at managing large- scale projects working independently and leading projects through to completion in required, tightened timeframes while maintaining a strategic perspective.
