Position Title: Order Administrator
Reports To: Materials Manager
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Overview
Fire and Gas Detection Technologies, Inc. is seeking a highly organized, detail-oriented
Order Administrator to support day-to-day administrative and planning functions of the
Materials and Production Departments. This role will facilitate production schedules,
monitor performance metrics, and provide clerical and technical support to ensure quality
assurance and timely execution of production activities. The ideal candidate will bring both
production and administrative experience, strong communication skills, and the ability to
thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support decision-making processes related to material availability and production constraints.
  • Perform administrative duties including data entry, scanning, and documentation management.
  • Maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOM) data, support updates, and perform case-bycase reviews to ensure material transfer records are current.
  • Review and process sales orders.
  • Create, update, and close work orders to support production planning and execution.
  • Perform costing activities for work orders and ensure accuracy in production documentation.
  • Create and issue pick tickets (finished goods) and ensure accurate part/material selection.
  • Participate in materials sizing activities to identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide early warnings and solutions for material shortages or anomalies.
  • Ensure adherence to ISO 9001 quality standards and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to resolve discrepancies and streamline processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Education or certification in a relevant industry field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • 2+ years of administrative or operations coordination experience.
  • Experience in electronic product manufacturing and ISO 9001 environments strongly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet tight deadlines.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word).
  • Working knowledge of ERP, MRP, MRB, SAP, SaaS platforms, and technical manufacturing tools.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Understanding of production workflows, scheduling, and resource planning.
  • Familiarity with cost tracking and BOM management.
  • Collaborative mindset with ability to work cross-functionally.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and resolving issues in real-time.


Working Conditions
Work is generally performed in both a temperature-controlled office and a
warehouse/production environment. This role requires frequent use of computers,
telephones, and standard office equipment. Typical physical demands include:

  •  Sitting at a desk for extended periods.
  • Repetitive motion using hands and wrists for typing/data entry and handling materials.
  • Occasional walking throughout the facility.
  • Ability to lift up to 15 lbs occasionally.
  • Wearing required PPE (ESD gear, smocks, safety glasses) when required.

Additional Requirements

  • Regular Schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM.
  • Employment will be contingent on satisfactory employment history, criminal background investigation, and drug screening.
