Department: Housing
Supervisor: Executive Director, Housing
Schedule: 40 hours/week Includes 2nd shift and weekend coverage.
Work Locations: Field-based, supporting individuals in their homes and community settings.
Summary
The Activity Coordinator is responsible for developing and facilitating engaging, person-centered recreational, educational, and community-based activities for individuals served in Ability Matters housing. The position supports inclusion and socialization by creating meaningful routines and opportunities that promote independence and enjoyment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and implement inclusive activities during evening and weekend hours, in the home and in the community, focusing on peer interaction and community inclusion
Develop monthly activity calendars for housing teams
Tailor activities to individual ISP goals and action steps
Promote physical activity, creative expression, and social engagement
Monitor and adjust programming to suit the needs and interests of consumers.
Coordinate transportation, schedules, and needed supplies for outings
Collaborate with staff to create a dynamic and supportive environment
Provide direct care to individuals with special needs 20-25 hours per week
Ensuring a positive, innovative, person-centered environment
Supports compliance with state, county, and local government regulations as well as organizational standards, policies, and procedures
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree preferred or 3-5 years work experience in a leadership role
Comfortable leading small group and 1:1 activities
Ability to lead activities with creativity, energy and organization
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Ability to think critically and creatively
Ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks
Possess and maintain First Aid and CPR training (or willing to obtain)
Pass and maintain all required Department of Developmental Disabilities (DODD) training offerings
Pass a background check
Pass a drug test
Possess and maintain a driving record with less than six (6) points
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervisory responsibilities
Physical Requirements:
Frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, equipment and/or material may be required. Other physical activities may be required.
Prolonged periods standing and walking within the community and other activities.
Must be able to lift up to 45 pounds at a time.
Must be able to assist consumers who have ph ysical difficulties.
Must be able to kneel, sit, stand, crawl, push, and pull to assist consumers throughout the day.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
(a) Some air-conditioned buildings. (b) Some exposure to weather extremes. (c) Ability to tolerate varying noise levels. (d) Exposure to anti-social behavior. (e) Exposure to bodily fluids (f) Ability to tolerate stressful situations.
