About the Role:
As the Band Director at Heritage Oak, you will have the opportunity to shape and lead a dynamic music program that nurtures students musical talent and appreciation. You will introduce foundational music concepts to students and guide older students in instrumental performance, culminating in concerts and school events. This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about music education, inspires excellence, and brings energy and creativity to the classroom and rehearsal space.
Responsibilities:
- Teach general music to students across grade levels with age-appropriate instruction in rhythm, melody, harmony, and music appreciation
- Serve as Band Director for students in upper elementary and middle school (Grades 48), including directing ensemble rehearsals and performances
- Select appropriate repertoire based on skill level, and prepare students for school concerts, festivals, and community events
- Guide students in developing instrumental proficiency, ensemble collaboration, and musical expression
- Maintain and organize musical instruments, sheet music, and classroom materials
- Collaborate with faculty on cross-curricular arts integration
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student progress and upcoming events
- Foster a positive, respectful, and engaging classroom environment that encourages creativity and student growth
What We Are Looking For:
- Bachelors degree in Music Education or a related field; advanced degree preferred
- Valid teaching credentials or equivalent state certification preferred
- Minimum 35 years of classroom or ensemble instruction experience
- Strong instrumental background and ensemble leadership skills
- Proficiency with technology and its application in music education
- Effective classroom management and strong interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to inspire and challenge students of varying skill levels
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
