Job Summary / Overview:
The Engagement and Development Lead will oversee two major pillars for the Center for Software Innovation (CSI): the Community and Career pillars, as well as increasing the visibility and profile of the CSI while creating a sustainable funding model under the direction of the Executive Director.
The mission of the CSI is to equip innovators with the skills, knowledge, resources, and connections to build the digital economy. In the Community pillar, the Lead will build and cultivate an ecosystem across campus, alumni, industry, and experts related to software innovation to further the overall mission of the CSI. This position develops programming and forms of engagement for the ecosystem in curriculum and projects, expanding career opportunities for students and alumni, growing experiential learning opportunities with industry, and developing ecosystem events related to software innovation. A major initiative for this position will be leading the annual CSI Construct I/O summit. Additionally, this position develops and delivers on a strategy to engage the ecosystem in the Center facilities.
This role also oversees the Career pillar, which has an objective to increase exposure to and availability of career paths in software innovation. In this pillar, the Lead will collaborate with career teams across the university and current as well as new employers to grow work opportunities for students and alumni in software innovation.
This role will also develop and run initiatives to increase campus community exposure to and understanding of relevant career paths. Further, this role will be responsible for increasing the visibility and profile of the CSI through outreach channels and partner closely with relevant marketing teams. Additionally, the Engagement and Development Lead will support the development and growth of income streams for the Center with the goal of establishing a self-sustaining funding model for the base operations of the CSI.
This position will require some travel in addition to working evenings and weekends, as needed.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree.
- Eight years of relevant work experience in partnerships or external facing roles.
- Excellent social skills with large groups as well as individuals.
- Ability to develop and execute on a partnership and revenue generation strategy needed.
- Strong organizational skills and project management needed.
- Ability to communicate effectively through written and verbal communication.
- Understanding of the corporate partnerships space, including how they are structured.
- Strong relationship management skills.
- Ability to measure, track, and articulate metrics and results.
Desired Qualifications:
- Masters or advanced degree in business or similar.
- 12 or more years of relevant work experience in partnerships or external facing roles, ideally with technology companies and with a focus on direct revenue generation.
- Understanding of the technology space, particularly high-growth and/or startups.
- Prior experience in academia or non-profits.
