Automation Technical Specialist Industrial Automation (NOT QA)

An established engineering and controls integrator is looking to hire an Automation Technical Specialist to join a growing team focused on custom automation solutions across industrial and energy sectors. This hire will step into a hands-on, dynamic role that blends programming, design, and field integration, working directly with clients on projects from initial concept through commissioning.

This is a critical backfill on a high-performing team (hiring #6 of 7), with strong customer demand and long-term project pipelines. Candidates must be ready to relocate to the Corpus Christi area and enjoy working in a fast-paced, solutions-first environment.

What Youll Do
  • Design and develop PLC and HMI applications (Rockwell & Siemens)

  • Execute onsite and remote startups ~30% regional fieldwork

  • Revise and troubleshoot existing code and develop new automation systems

  • Work closely with internal engineering, sales, and end users to design control panels

  • Own full lifecycle of automation projects, from spec to commissioning

  • Wear multiple hats in a tight-knit, engineering-driven team

What You Bring
  • 5+ years of experience in PLC/HMI programming (AB preferred or Siemens)

  • Solid understanding of control panel design, circuit troubleshooting

  • Field commissioning experience

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with Ignition, AutoCAD Electrical, Python, Java, or SQL

  • Exposure to motor controls, panel BOMs, and industrial networking (Ethernet/IP)
