What will you do as an EDI Systems Specialist at HOMAGE?
As the EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) Systems Specialist you will lead our EDI operations, integrations, and customer-facing coordination across internal teams and external partners. This role is responsible for managing and optimizing EDI infrastructure to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant electronic transactions between our systems and our trading partners, including direct engagement with customers during onboarding, support, and issue resolution.
You will play a critical role in ensuring technical success, driving customer satisfaction, and aligning EDI workflows with business needs across retail, wholesale, logistics, and e-commerce operations.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
System Ownership & Architecture
- Serve as the primary owner of EDI platforms and tools (e.g., SPS Commerce, Orderful, Cleo, or custom solutions).
- Design, implement, and maintain scalable EDI architecture and process flows.
- Lead internal EDI strategy and roadmap aligned with business goals and system architecture.
Trading Partner & Customer Management
- Act as the main point of contact for external customers and vendors during EDI onboarding, integration setup, and troubleshooting.
- Coordinate testing, validation, and go-live processes with customer technical teams.
- Build trusted relationships with external stakeholders to support long-term EDI success.
- Communicate clearly and professionally with non-technical users to guide issue resolution and process alignment.
Monitoring & Support
- Monitor daily EDI traffic for errors, delays, and compliance issues.
- Proactively manage and resolve exceptions, collaborating with both internal teams and external customers.
- Set up and maintain support documentation, SLAs, and escalation workflows.
Integration & Technical Execution
- Implement and maintain integrations with ERP (e.g., NetSuite), eCommerce (e.g., Shopify), 3PLs, and warehouse systems.
- Manage and maintain EDI mappings, translation rules, and document standards (850, 856, 810, 940, 945, etc.).
- Work with API/webhook-based integrations and understand JSON/XML structures when needed.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all integrations comply with trading partner requirements and industry standards (X12, EDIFACT).
- Maintain accurate mapping documentation, partner configuration guides, and internal SOPs.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with sales, operations, finance, and technology teams to align EDI functionality with business workflows.
- Provide internal training and education as needed to demystify EDI concepts and processes.
Qualifications
What are we looking for in an EDI Systems Specialist?
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, or equivalent experience.
- 5+ years of hands-on EDI experience, including direct work with customers and trading partners.
- Strong knowledge of EDI standards (X12, EDIFACT), formats, protocols (AS2, SFTP), and translation tools.
- Experience integrating with ERP, WMS, eCommerce, and fulfillment systems.
- Professional communication skills and a strong customer service mindset.
- Ability to translate technical issues into business-friendly language and vice versa.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience in customer-facing roles, technical onboarding, or account management.
- Familiarity with modern integration tools and platforms (Celigo, MuleSoft, Boomi, Postman).
- Knowledge of EDI-related processes in logistics, wholesale, manufacturing, or retail sectors.
- Scripting or automation familiarity (Python, SQL, etc.) is a plus.
Hybrid Role in Columbus, Ohio.
