Job Description
The Associate Director in Eligibility Analysis and Operations areas in Student Financial Aid (SFA) within the Office of Strategic Enrollment Management provides leadership and direction for three Assistant Directors and four Program Coordinators to direct workflow, provide training, process loans, verification, awarding, Return to Title IV (R2T4) processing and ensuring Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP). Assists in overseeing the Student Financial Aid training program including development, creation and delivery of information. Provides leadership and direction for the staff and manages the daily operation and activities in the Eligibility Analysis and Operations areas. The Associate Director is responsible for overseeing the processes of verification of financial documents, certification of financial aid eligibility, administration of aid programs for undergraduate, graduate, and professional students at all campuses of the university. Provides information and processing services to staff in SFA, colleges, departments, and extended campuses. Assists in the development of a comprehensive awarding and funds management plan that supports the strategic goals of the university. Manages, develops, communicates and maintains financial aid processing procedures. Assures compliance of regulations in all aspects of financial aid processing. Assess, develops, implements, and evaluates operational policies and procedures related to verification and financial aid awarding that support the staff and mission of the office and the university. In addition, evaluates the document imaging system and automated workflow for all areas of SFA. Routinely exercises professional judgment in matters such as appeals of academic progress, dependency status, and special financial circumstances. As a member of the senior management team, plans, prepares and implements operational, policy and process improvements. Researches and resolves escalated cases. Ensures documentation of new and existing policies and procedures are accurate and accessible. Analyzes workload and makes adjustments to staffing configurations as needed to ensure that appropriate job priorities and goals are set. Monitors quality control and implements efficiency measures. Assists with developing and overseeing a default management strategy, monitors aid accounts, assists with the development, leadership, management, administration, and implementation of policies and procedures for financial aid programs throughout the office in accordance with department, division, and university strategic plans. Employs a comprehensive performance management system with staff, including performance planning, coaching, multiple source feedback and completing year end performance reviews. Consistently develops and sustains collaborative working relationships. Identifies training needs and ensures training and orientation tools and resources are implemented to support the success of the staff and the operation. Fosters a positive working environment that creates multiple opportunities for collaborative and effective communication amongst the staff. Counsels students, parents, faculty, and staff. Attends meetings, serves on committees and maintains confidentiality of sensitive documents and issues. Completes special duties as assigned.
Required Education/Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is required. 7 years of relevant experience required. Professional financial aid experience required. Experiencing managing staff. A working knowledge of federal and state regulations relative to financial aid administration is required.
Desired Education/Experience
Master's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience is preferred. Experience with a Student Information System is preferred. A proven track record of success with financial aid administration at a post-secondary institution is strongly preferred.
