We are seeking a reliable and skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to support multiple preschool locations within Charlotte, NC and the surrounding areas. This role is responsible for ensuring our schools are safe, well-maintained, and operating efficiently by detailed attention to the cleanliness and functional operability of the physical school building. The ideal candidate has experience in general maintenance, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently across multiple sites. They are resourceful in solving problems, proactive in addressing potential issues, maintains equipment and addresses facility needs with minimal direction.
Job Title : Preschool Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location : Charlotte, Denver, Mooresville, and Weddington, NC
Reports To : Regional Director of Operations

Key Responsibilities
Perform routine maintenance tasks including painting, plumbing, HVAC filter changes, electrical repairs, furniture assembly, and basic carpentry.
Respond to urgent repair requests from assigned preschool locations in a timely and professional manner.
Conduct regular facility inspections to identify safety or maintenance concerns.
Coordinate with outside vendors for specialized repairs and oversee completion of contracted work as needed.
Support school leadership with preventative maintenance planning and recordkeeping, including service visits for elevators, fire systems, etc.
Maintain tools, equipment, and a company-provided vehicle in good working condition.
Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and licensing standards.
Collaborate with regional leadership to prioritize work orders, schedule site visits efficiently, and develop long-term strategic facilities planning and upkeep.
Work with supervisory team to identify CapEx requests, obtain quotes, and prioritize requests.
Support occasional school projects such as classroom refreshes, playground maintenance, and seasonal preparations.
Operate with resiliency and an ability to reprioritize tasks with a positive attitude.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or certifications a plus (e.g., HVAC, electrical).
2+ years of facilities, maintenance, or building operations experience, preferably in childcare, education, or multi-site environments.
Valid drivers license and reliable transportation; ability to travel between schools as required.
Strong knowledge of building systems, repair tools, and general maintenance procedures.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., climb ladders, and perform physical tasks in varying environments.
Self-starter with excellent time management, organizational, and communication skills.
Must pass background checks and meet state licensing requirements for working in a preschool setting.
Must be able to travel by personal motor vehicle to assist schools in the area as assigned.
