Tax Manager/People & Process Leader
Location: Houston, Tx (Hybrid/Remote — On-site 1 week/month preferred)
Compensation: $130K to 150K base + performance-based incentives

Our client, a high-growth, modern CPA firm based in Texas, isn’t your traditional accounting practice.
They don’t chase every client, they don’t live in tax return season hell, and they definitely don’t hire by checking a box.
They work exclusively with seven- and eight-figure business owners nationwide, delivering high-level tax strategy, outsourced CFO insight, and year-round advisory services.
Now, they’re looking for a Tax Manager - someone who can lead from the front, build structure into scale, and still roll up their sleeves when the job requires it.
What You’ll Do
This isn’t just a leadership title. It’s a strategic + tactical role designed for someone who bridges the gap between high-level vision and real-world execution.
Operational Leadership
· Serve as our client’s right hand, implementing the “Get Scalable” framework, driving firmwide initiatives, and ensuring growth doesn’t outpace structure.
· Own internal accountability: keep deliverables moving, eliminate bottlenecks, and ensure priorities stay aligned.
· Act as a coach, strategist, and operations driver for a fast-moving, visionary team.
Tax and Accounting Oversight
· Review tax work and financials to ensure technical accuracy and coach the team to deliver excellence.
· Collaborate with outsourced and on-site team members to identify and resolve bottlenecks in engagements, implement streamlined workflows, and establish/enhance repeatable systems.
· Lead tax planning and strategy conversations with high-value clients (CPA or EA highly preferred but not required).
Team Development
· Train and mentor the internal team while identifying key areas for process improvement and role realignment.
· Help structure a hybrid team model that incorporates offshore support and on-site quarterbacks to manage client communication and project flow.
What You Bring to the Table
· Strong technical background in tax and accounting, with the ability to lead from experience — not theory.
· Proven success in team leadership, operations oversight, and managing people through change and growth.
· High EQ and low ego and a confident but coachable operator who knows when to push, when to listen, and when to execute.
· Exceptional communication and project management skills, i.e., you know how to get things done.
· Familiarity with EOS or Get Scalable-style operating systems is a plus, but a mindset that aligns with these principles matters more than a specific label.
