HOW A SYSTEMS SAFETY ENGINEER WILL MAKE AN IMPACT
Designs and defines system architecture for tailored range safety requirements.
Conduct system safety evaluation of satellite vehicle program, launch vehicle integration and Operation & Maintenance plans, procedures and safety documentation for compliance with applicable federal, state and range safety requirements.
Conduct and support facility readiness walk-downs prior to satellite vehicle arrival and hazardous operations.
Provide safety surveillance/monitoring of all satellite vehicle pre-launch hazardous operations and ensure hazards are properly mitigated.
Provide technical and programmatic support for any near miss and/or mishap investigation related to satellite vehicle program.
Support facility modification efforts to identify any potential safety impacts to satellite vehicle programs and associated processing activities.
Review best practices and recommend ways to apply those practices to range safety requirements.
Maintain System Safety Risk Management modules in Government provided tools.
Participates in special projects as required.
WHAT YOULL NEED TO SUCCEED:
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical discipline.
Required Experience: 5+ years of related launch system safety experience
Required Technical Skills: Fire Inspector Certification from an accredited program
Security Clearance Level: TS/SCI with polygraph
Location: On Customer Site
US Citizenship Required
