Job Summary Responsiblefor administration of nuclear imaging procedures, calculation,diagnostic, therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, and adjunctivemedications using a variety of equipment and strictly adhering torelevant safety standards. Performs quality nuclear medicineimaging examinations through the application of advanced technicalknowledge while maintaining strict attention to patient care inaccordance with department policy and procedure. Carry out hot labduties and perform a variety of nuclear medicine studies oninpatients and outpatients in all age groups from neonate togeriatric. Have an understanding of nuclear regulatory commission(NRC) rules and regulations, practice radiation safety, safelyoperate all cameras and equipment in the department, process andsend data to required destinations via computer. Understands thetheories and principles behind the equipment and tests performed inthe nuclear medicine department. Prepares, measures, andadministers radiopharmaceuticals and therapeutically dosages underthe direction of a physician. Employs radiation-detecting equipmentto perform patient imaging procedures; describes procedures topatients and answers questions. Implements radiation safetystandards and quality assurance into daily work and monitors apatient's condition during the course of an imaging procedure.Collects patient information, analyzes data and provides qualityimages for a physician to diagnose a patient. Dependent on needs offacility and department may also be responsible and cross-trainedin performing positron emission tomography computed tomography(PETCT) scans with thorough understanding of all processes relatedto PETCT. Has ability to perform nuclear medicine procedures afterappropriate orientation to the department. Able to work with growthand development needs of unique client populations. Confirmation ofthorough understanding of all processes related to PETCT.Demonstrate qualities of a team player. Professionalism andconfidentiality will be adhered to at all times. Necessary to beopen to change and technology advancements. QualificationsCompletion of an approved School of Nuclear Medicine Technology isrequired. Certification with the Nuclear Medicine TechnologyCertification Board (NMTCB) required. In addition for the state ofNorth Dakota (ND), licensed with the North Dakota Medical Imagingand Radiation Therapy (MIRT) board. Registered in positron emissiontomography (PET) helpful. Basic Life Support (BLS) required within60 days of employment, recertification as required. Obtains andsubsequently maintains required department specific competenciesand certifications.
