Summary Description:
Green Acres School is seeking a full-time nurse. The nurse plays a vital role in supporting the health and well-being of all students and is responsible for the management and implementation of the school health program. The nurse is responsible for managing the health office, responding to medical issue issues, maintaining health records, and implementing health and safety policies. The position requires confidentiality, record keeping and review, developing a warm rapport with children and their parents, preparing for emergencies, and distributing medical bags for classrooms, field trips, and sports events. This role includes managing both routine and complex medical needs, including students who require medical procedures during the school day.
Responsibilities:
Clinical Care & First Aid
- Provide direct nursing care to students and staff, including assessment and treatment of illness or injury.
- Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and parental consent.
- Respond to emergencies and coordinate with local emergency services when needed.
Health Records & Compliance
- Maintain accurate, confidential health records in compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Monitor student immunizations and health screenings; ensure compliance with state mandates.
- Prepare and submit required health-related reports to state or local agencies.
Health Education & Promotion
- Serve as a resource for health education initiatives within the school.
- Educate students, staff, and families on topics such as hygiene, nutrition, chronic disease management, and mental health under the direction of the Head of School.
Infection Control & Safety
- Implement and monitor protocols for communicable disease prevention and control.
- Collaborate with administrators on safety plans and emergency protocols.
- Manage supplies and maintain a clean, safe health office environment.
Collaboration & Communication
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student health concerns.
- Partner with faculty, counselors, and administrators to support students with chronic conditions, allergies, or other accommodations.

Qualifications:
- Candidate must hold a valid certified nurse practitioner license or be a registered nurse
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certification
- Experience working in pediatrics and preferably a school setting
- Detail-oriented, energetic, creative, and organized
- Ability to multitask and prioritize workload
- Knowledge of child development, adolescent health, and relevant state health laws/regulations
- Certified to perform visual and hearing screenings or must be willing to obtain these if required
