ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Tutoring

• Works in-person with students, either one-to-one or in small groups, to help them attain a deeper and more substantial command of assigned subject matter, and to develop and apply effective learning and critical thinking skills. Provides tutoring sessions and activities, outreach events and activities, and daily operations as needed.
• Provides academic support for and in Columbus Promise Math cohort classrooms in collaboration with course instructors. Examples of activities include attending class meetings; consulting with instructors about course topics; and providing in-class guidance. Provides direct support to students in learning and understanding concepts, assignments, and material in the tutor's area of expertise.
• Communicates with Columbus Promise and Tutoring administrators regarding student progress and needs, and generates reports as requested by supervisors. Effectively communicates to students using a variety of methods and instructional tools.

Administrative/Clerical Functions

• Maintains documentation of all tutoring sessions. Generates department reports for tutoring and maintains documentation of department tutoring interactions. Provides course instructor(s) with communication/information that can be used to facilitate student learning of course content. Advanced use and implementation of the College's tutoring software.
• Works collaboratively with the Math Department and tutoring administration, staff, and tutors to develop strategies and materials for effective tutoring and learning skills support.

Continuous Learning & Mentoring

• Maintains a thorough knowledge of the course material, as well as multiple instructional methodologies, to accommodate various student learning styles. Attends tutor training sessions.
• Provides support to LSS, LSS IIs, Peer Tutors & Supplemental Instructional Leaders. Assists with technical support of tutoring software and reports. Works in close collaboration with academic department leadership and faculty leads on course specific content.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity while meeting federal as well as internal regulations and procedures, with the ability to adapt to changing needs of the College and business partners.
• Hours include occasional evenings and Saturdays based on operational needs.
• Meets in-person at designated times and locations. Works with multiple students and with other tutors present in a shared space model.
