Job Description
Gloucester, Virginia Overview This position performs prescribed procedures in accordance with department/facility policies, procedures, and protocols. This position ensures optimal care/treatment to patient population. The below standards are expectations of working within a student technologist role, while utilizing the Registered Radiologic Technologists to assist in the completion of duties where needed: Performs procedures by following and verifying orders from referring providers. Uses independent judgment and applies learned methodologies according to established policy and procedures. Verifies patient identity and reviews patient's medical record for appropriateness of exam or procedure. Provides education to patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Demonstrates efficient use of resources and quality patient outcomes. Produces high quality images and prepares/presents them with other pertinent patient information for timely interpretation. Prepares and maintains accurate documentation. Performs and evaluates equipment quality control measurements. Demonstrates the ability to trouble shoot and notifies appropriate personnel to maintain equipment performance. Maintains a safe environment for patients, personnel, and visitors by adhering to safety policies. Accountable for the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities related to the radiology practice. This includes maintaining confidentiality of all work information. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Functioning as a team member, the technologist is flexible in the work assignments, rotates to support all aligned imaging facilities when needed and assists with training. What you will do Produces quality images following appropriate protocols and procedures. Provides clinical documentation per scope of practice. Performs with a high degree of safety and quality and prevents or reduces harms through knowledge and application of policies, procedures, protocols using safety behaviors. Responsible for the preparation of equipment, instrumentation, and departmental supplies required to support quality patient care. Follows ALARA principles according to policy. Understands and adheres to all applicable regulatory and accrediting standards. Follows RHS policies and procedures. Reports variances. Performs effective assessment, actions, and documentation. Provides education to patients/families regarding procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Monitors and maintains adequate inventory of supplies and materials to ensure non-interruption of services.
