Job Title: Materials Manager
Location: New Brighton, MN
Pay: $125,000 - $140,000, plus 10% bonus
Duration: DIRECT HIRE
We have an opportunity for a materials Manager to join our New Brighton, MN team. You will lead the materials functions to meet strategy deployment goals of inventory, SIOP, and Material Flow by coordinating plans and actions with supply and operations to meet customer demands on time. They will manage the Production and Inventory Control Department, including planning, procurement, inventory, and distribution from the warehouse. Additionally, the Material Manager will ensure purchased components and assemblies are procured and delivered to the assembly lines on time to meet customer demand, maintain inventory accuracy and control total plant inventory, and lead continuous improvement efforts in planning, procurement, supply base management, and receiving functions. Cross-functionally, this manager will work with sales and marketing to level load the factory through monthly sales, inventory, and operations planning (SIOP) meetings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Can lead and develop a team of direct and indirect reports and is viewed as a change agent, role model, and coach.
- Participate as a member of the operations team in making cross-functional operational decisions, including transformation planning and financial target setting to meet department Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Cash objectives.
- Execute and continuously improve a lean material purchasing and handling system for purchased and assembled parts by ensuring a Plan for Every Part (PFEP), a properly located, sized, and managed parts market, a rigorous material-delivery route using standard work, and pull signals to tightly link their areas of continuous flow to the supply of materials. Responsible for developing and improving the internal materials purchasing and delivery system by using companys Creating Continuous Flow (CCF) and Making Materials Flow (MMF) processes.
- Owns production planning to execute the expectations to deliver customer orders on time. Will prepare delivery reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends, and use this information to communicate potential late deliveries proactively. Will utilize the root cause countermeasure corrective action process to improve process performance.
- Develop and execute a purchasing strategy to meet the companys business growth and materials requirements, including monitoring supplier scorecard performance. Work with strategic supply commodity managers and the enterprise supply manager to improve supplier quality and delivery. Partner to optimize the entire supply chain.
- Coordinate and work with quality, engineering, planning, and operations to ensure 100% on-time delivery.
- Responsible for the accuracy of inventory counts by managing, in conjunction with Finance, an inventory control process capable of identifying discrepancies in inventory counts and completing root cause countermeasure corrective actions to guard against inconsistencies in the future.
- Reviews, monitors, and provides corrective measures to D.C. stocking levels.
- Supports the disposal of obsolete and excess material. Reviews excess and obsolete reports on an as-needed basis. Supports QA and Engineering for the determination of what should be scrapped, reworked, returned to a vendor, or possibly sold.
Required Qualifications:
- BS / BA degree in materials supply chain management, engineering, business, or similar degrees
- 8 - 10+ years of increasing experience in a materials and inventory management leadership role within manufacturing, with direct reports, matrix-level management experience strongly preferred, including the ability to leverage metrics and other tools to manage team productivity and performance
- Working knowledge of SAP ERP System is a must have S/4 HANA experience is a plus
- Working knowledge of Kanban pull replenishment systems.
- Experience in purchasing, inventory management, production planning/scheduling in a fast-paced, short lead time, low volume / high mix manufacturing environment
- Previous experience working with Original Equipment Manufacturing (OEM) customers is a plus.
- Builds high-performance teams and is a strong team player on all organizational levels.
- Possess a working knowledge and understanding of lean principles and processes.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerBI, or similar systems with the ability to analyze data and trends to result in rapid actions.
