Presbyterian is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager for the OR . This role involves serving as a dynamic partner to the Department RN Manager, responsible for directing and supporting both the clinical and operational functions of designated patient care units. By maintaining a consistent hands-on presence, the position ensures that nursing staff are guided and empowered to deliver safe, high-quality, evidence-based care aligned with institutional and professional standards. Beyond clinical duties, the role actively engages in shaping budgets, optimizing resource allocation, and monitoring key performance metrics that drive strategic outcomes and efficient care delivery.

Equally important is the roles influence over personnel development and team culture. This includes contributing to hiring decisions, training initiatives, and performance evaluations, all while fostering a collaborative, positive work environment. Staff concerns are addressed with empathy and leadership insight, supporting morale and promoting a culture of growth. The position also involves driving strategic contributions by participating in long-term planning, enhancing care models, and utilizing data to inform patient-centered decision-making. Every element of the role is geared toward delivering excellence in patient outcomes while advancing department and organizational goals.

Type of Opportunity: Full Time (1.0 FTE/40 hours per week)
Work Schedule: 8 Hour Days

This position is eligible for the Northern New Mexico differential of $4.00 per hour. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.)

Responsibilities:
  • Partners with the Department RN Manager to oversee operational, financial, and personnel responsibilities across designated units

  • Demonstrates leadership through hands-on presence in care environments, guiding teams and ensuring adherence to clinical standards

  • Functions as a subject matter expert, mentoring staff and promoting accountability for high-quality patient care

  • Actively contributes to recruiting, interviewing, onboarding, and staff retention through strategic orientation processes

  • Maintains compliance with labor laws and supports regulatory readiness through monitoring and staff education

  • Utilizes performance tools and evidence-based practices to drive process improvement and optimize patient safety

  • Proficient in clinical technologies and electronic health records, acting as a super-user to integrate tools into care delivery

  • Supports strategic and financial management by contributing to budgeting, analyzing variances, and aligning staffing with organizational needs

  • Participates in performance reviews, goal-setting, mentoring, and succession planning to enhance team engagement and professional growth

  • Builds strong relationships through active listening, conflict resolution, and inclusive communication

  • Promotes a diverse and culturally competent workforce and sustains an environment aligned with shared governance and decision-making

  • Models professionalism by pursuing continuous learning, self-assessment, and reflective practice

Qualifications:
  • Associate Degree in Nursing
  • State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License
  • BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire
  • One year of nursing experience
