Key Responsibilities:- Emergency Care: Provide emergency care to small animals, managing urgent medical and surgical conditions including trauma, poisoning, and other critical situations.
- Surgical Expertise: Perform emergency surgeries, including soft tissue surgeries, wound management, and other critical procedures required to stabilize patients.
- Patient Monitoring: Closely monitor critically ill patients, adjusting treatment protocols as needed based on patient status.
- Diagnostic Services: Use advanced diagnostic tools including digital radiography, ultrasound, and laboratory services to aid in diagnosis and guide treatment decisions.
- Client Communication: Communicate effectively with pet owners about their pet’s condition, treatment options, and prognosis. Offer compassionate support in difficult situations.
- Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a team of veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and support staff to provide comprehensive emergency care.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and detailed medical records for each patient, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and practice protocols.
- On-Call and Overnight Shifts: Be available for on-call shifts and work during nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to provide emergency coverage.
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree from an accredited veterinary school.
- Valid veterinary license to practice in Oklahoma (or the ability to obtain one).
- Emergency and critical care experience required; experience in emergency surgery is preferred.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations, make quick decisions, and stay calm under pressure.
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically in emergency situations.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with pet owners and team members.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment while maintaining a high standard of patient care.
