What is an HRIS Analyst?

Human resources information systems (HRISs) are software solutions that aid HR personnel with organizing, analyzing, and reporting on employee data, managing handbooks, procedures, and guidelines, and administering payroll and benefits. HRISs increase an HR department’s efficiency and accuracy by eliminating many manual and paper-based processes.

Furthermore, because these systems track various data in one centralized location, HRISs are often used to make critical operational decisions. It is no surprise that a position such as the HRIS Analyst exists to support the widespread use of these programs in companies large and small. If you are looking for an HR job and have strong technical skills and an astute attention to detail, this profession may be perfect for you.

General Job Duties

The HRIS Analyst role is primarily focused on projects/process improvement, production support, and reporting/query running with system maintenance, training, and individual development as supplemental responsibilities. While an IT job at its core, the HRIS Analyst position also requires broad knowledge of HR operations and regulations, as they are called upon to create customized solutions based on an HR department’s specific needs. Keeping data secure is also a key duty since much of the system information is confidential and it is up to the HRIS Analyst to ensure access parameters are properly defined.
