“Undoubtedly, 2018 was a historic year for jobs,” said Steve Flook, iHire’s president. “To benchmark this growth, we developed our first-ever U.S. Job Industry Recap and Outlook Report. This inaugural eBook comprises proprietary data from our employer and job seeker platforms, as well as forward-looking trends that we believe will shape the industry in 2019.”

Detailed in the report, the following are among iHire’s 2019 hiring predictions:

  • Recruitment marketing will be a non-negotiable hiring strategy.
  • Employers will focus on employee retention.
  • Workplace culture will be the No. 1 competitive differentiator in the hiring process.
  • Data analytics will power more effective HR.
  • Companies will tackle the skills gap by offering free education and training.

“In 2019, we will likely see the number of job openings continue to increase, as companies look to quickly fill new positions and build their talent pipelines,” Flook continued. “However, the tight labor market will lead employers to focus not only on hiring the right applicants, but also on retaining current employees and reducing staff turnover. A combination of candidate-focused recruitment marketing and highly targeted job search technology will help employers and job seekers alike overcome these challenges for a prosperous 2019.”
