Meet iHire’s Job Optimizer: Strengthen Your Job Postings to Reach the Right Talent

A tool to attract more qualified job applicants

Writing a captivating and informative job ad – with the right keywords – is critical to getting quality responses. We want to make that process as seamless as possible when you’re posting a job on iHire. With our Job Optimizer (JO), iHire helps ensure your job ad attracts the right applicants, saving you time in the hiring process.

How the JO Evaluates Your Job

While you’re writing your job description, the JO is hard at work, making sure your posting has the elements it needs to attract qualified talent. The strength of your ad is based on its length and content, and the JO’s ratings will range from “Very Weak” to “Great.”

The quantity and quality of the skills you include in your posting play a large role in your overall JO score. That’s because when candidates are searching for jobs online, Search Engine Optimization (SEO) determines which jobs are showing up in their search results. SEO matches the search terms used by the job seeker to pull up relevant jobs that include the same or similar keywords.

To help your ad get more exposure to qualified job seekers, we provide you with a list of industry-focused skills and keywords that candidates in our database are using in their search. These recommendations will populate on the right-hand side of your screen.

How to Optimize Your Job Posting

If your JO score is lower than you expected, consider these recommendations for improving your job ad.

  • To get the best click-to-apply rate, create a job posting that is 500–1,000 characters long.

  • Get in front of more candidates by including relevant and industry-specific keywords that populate on the right-hand side of your screen.
  • Use a mix of short paragraphs and high-impact bullets to keep the reader interested.
  • Don’t forget to mention benefits and culture! Try the S-ABC-S format: Summary, Advantages, Benefits, Culture, Sign-Off.

After you’re done adding content, skills, and keywords to your description, you can get a fresh JO score by clicking the refresh button below your posting:

The JO in Action

Take a look at this job description for a Customer Relationship Manager, for example. When we ran the Job Optimizer analysis, our score was only “So So.”

Job Description - Example 1

To improve the quality of our job ad, we added:

  • Relevant skills and keywords from the list on the right so that we show up in more job seeker search results
  • More information about the job duties, our company culture, and the type of candidate we’re looking for so that potential applicants can better evaluate their fit for the job

Our additions to the job posting increased our Job Optimizer score from “So So” to “Great,” and we posted our position with confidence in its ability to draw in qualified talent.
