A little bit about the role and team:

  • This Specialist position is on the Enterprise Data Governance team and reports to the Director .

  • In collaboration with business stakeholders and Technology partners this role will be responsible for defining data governance principles and practices .

  • This individual will be responsible for assisting in efforts to meet Enterprise goals for Data Governance in collaboration with Data Governance and Technology partners .

Primary duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborate with Enterprise Data Office teams to d evelop and execute on E nterprise Data Governance A ctivation Strategy

  • Develop collaborative relationships with business and Technology partners, communicating key data governance activities, strategies, data impacts, and quality issues.

  • Partner with the Business Application Owner of Data Governance applications to implement, support and maintain those applications .

  • Partner with Business Data Owners, Data Stewards and Data SMEs to drive implementation of data governance standards, applications , practices and principles across the organization .

  • Guide processes, analyses, communication, and change management related to data governance applications, principles, and practices , with the primary goal of activating data governance across the Enterprise.

  • Collaborate with the Enterprise Data Office and Local Data Governance t eams to enable Local Data Strategies and to drive consistency on data governance practices and drive interoperability of data across organizations.

  • Support the development and maintenance of p ractices and standards to drive consistency of data g overnance across the Enterprise.

Preferred Experience:

  • 2 + years of experience in data governance, data analytics, or data management role.

  • Experience with analytically intense projects, which confirm common understanding of the data.

  • Experience profiling data, detecting data quality issues, and defining data quality business rules.

  • Experience with data governance tools including Master Data Management, data dictionaries, and data lineage.

  • Experience in change management and data analysis.

  • Demonstrated expertise in bridging communication between IT and the business.

  • Demonstrates expertise in data, such as P&C insurance, Marketing, Finance, etc.

As a Data Governance Advisor, youll ensure the quality, reliability, security, efficiency, and accuracy of data through the data lifecycle to enable effective reporting and analytics for better and faster decision-making. Youll ensure adherence to data governance policy, standards and processes including taxonomy, data quality, efficiencies, and usage. Successful candidates have a passion for improving integrity and usability of data assets, resolving data quality issues, creating data definitions, driving consistency in sourcing data and defining critical data elements and collaborating with influencing others to consistently implement data governance policies, process, and standards

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Under minimal supervision supports the data practices for an area or line of business.

  • Assists in minimizing the risk of bad data and improve data accuracy, validity, reliability, timeliness, relevance, completeness, and compliance.

  • Applies secure software and systems engineering practices throughout the delivery lifecycle to ensure our data and technology solutions are protected from threats and vulnerabilities.

  • Provides technical support and/or consultation on the Enterprise Data Governance.

  • Partners with experts to implement and conduct quality assurance assessments with supporting documentation, working with Auditable Business Unit(s) for risk identification and risk mitigation.

  • Aids in the development of basic to moderate metadata management initiatives, including technical data lineage, data quality and profile development.

  • Supports technical consulting on data standards on implementation of business solutions/efficiencies efforts.

May perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Reporting Relationships: Reports to Manager/Director Data Leader.

Typical Skills and Experiences:

Education : Undergraduate studies in computer science, management information systems, business, statistics, math, a related field or comparable experience and education strongly preferred. Graduate studies in business, statistics, math, computer science or a related field are a plus.

License/Certification/Designation : Certifications are not required but encouraged.

Experience : Five years of relevant experience with data centric, data governance, data management standards or practices. Experience in use and interpretation of metrics. Experience in analytically-intense, data-intense or data integration project preferred. Insurance/financial services industry knowledge a plus.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Data application, practices and benchmark knowledge. Good oral and written communication skills. Ability to build relationships, facilitate meetings and influence others.

Other criteria, including leadership skills, competencies and experiences may take precedence.

Staffing exceptions to the above must be approved by the hiring managers leader and HR Business Partner.
