GENERAL PURPOSE

  • To lead, manages and sets strategic objectives for Machine Maintenance Teams.
  • At assigned site(s), to achieve operational objectives in safety, quality, reliability, cost, continuous improvement, and employee morale.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Applies sound project management and engineering principles in day to day work, strategic planning and when coaching others.
  • Coaches others using (MKPS) principles to collaboratively leverage existing resources when developing solutions.
  • Coaches work team leaders on facilitating and managing change.
  • Develop, monitor, and reports on annual operating budgets (expense and capital) responsible site(s).
  • Ensures complete and cost-effective compliance to all current governmental regulations, engineering codes, and effectively insures efforts to anticipate future regulations.
  • Manages skilled trades program within respective departments to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Models the way in developing a proactive culture to ensure a safe working environment for all employees and contractors.
  • Responsible for the team's safety program, safety policies / procedures, and compliance with all state and federal legislation.
  • Provides leadership and insight into new or emerging engineering concepts and technologies which relate to Methods, Materials, or Equipment.
  • Responsible for employee selection and training.
  • Analyzes work force skill sets or trades and adjusts or balances to support changing work requirements.
  • Also responsible to help employees to develop new skills that will allow them to increase their contribution to the business and improve the processes of the operation.
  • Supports multiple projects in various phases, simultaneously, drawing on internal and external networks to achieve results.
  • Works closely with site leadership teams to provide cost effective services that enable them to achieve their goals.
  • Lead, define, and complete complex problem-solving tasks with minimal oversight of leadership.
  • Proactive approach to predictive and preventative principles and how to teach / apply this methodology.

Education/Experience

  • Education/Experience - Not Parsed
  • Bachelor's Degree in Operations Management, Engineering; or equivalent combination of professional experience and education. 1
  • 10 years of experience in engineering or maintenance roles including two+ years in a leadership capacity.

Licenses and Certifications / Skills and Abilities

  • Technically competent with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems and equipment. Must have an awareness of governmental regulations in safety, environmental, and emergency response.
  • Knowledge of and experience with Lean Manufacturing Methodologies (e.g., MKPS).
  • Ability to demonstrate coaching and change management skills.
  • Adept at resolving conflict in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and understand issues and make appropriate decisions.
  • Must be an effective team leader, able to set team goals and commitments, and hold team members accountable for their assigned tasks.
  • Must be able to assess priorities and determine course of action with minimal day-to-day supervision and be able to anticipate, recognize, and respond effectively to changes which affect project plans.
  • Experience with change management principles and demonstrated ability to drive and manage the change process, from strategic planning through implementation and follow-through.
  • Exceptional leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Demonstrated ability to use information technology (internet, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Lotus Notes...)
  • Competence to handle multiple tasks or projects in an environment with high degree of pressure and with frequently changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively at both the strategic and hands-on levels.
  • Exhibits an overall business sense and understands how decisions affect the business.
