The Columbus Technology Center in Dublin, OH is searching for a dynamic Laboratory Technician eager to conduct cutting-edge corrosion and mechanical testing. Youll evaluate material behavior in challenging environments like hydrogen, CO2, hydrogen sulfide, and more to drive groundbreaking research. Your expertise will directly support advanced energy operations and infrastructure, fueling todays demand while spearheading innovative decarbonization strategies that transform how hydrogen and CO2 are transported and stored.
This position is based in Dublin, OH and requires an onsite presence to perform the responsibilities of the position.
What Youll Do:
- Support applied research to assess material compatibility and performance in a wide range of simulated operating environments
- Setup and run laboratory experiments, including the ability to:
- Handle pressurized equipment/gas and chemicals/test solutions (some envirornments will be hazardous, such as H2 and H2S- thorough safety training will be provided).
- Collect data
- Analyze test specimens using photography, microscopy, balances, calipers
- Design/procure test materials and coordinate machining jobs
- Follow established safety and quality procedures
- Provide input on design of customized test set-ups
- Inspect, test, repair/troubleshoot, and install equipment
- Complete other duties as assigned
- Adhere to Safety, Health, Environmental, and Quality Assurance program on projects

QUALIFICATIONSWhat is Required:
- High school diploma or higher.
- Two (2) years of experience in a laboratory technician role.
- Proficiency in handling LabVIEW-based data acquisition (DAQ) systems.
- Basic understanding of electronics.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently.
- Mechanical aptitude and hands-on work experience.
- Prior experience with servo-electric or hydraulic load machines.
- Ability to adhere to specific test procedures.
- Well-organized and proactive, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced and competitive environment while interacting with a diverse group of clients and co-workers.
- Willingness and capability to travel up to 5% of the time.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 40 lbs; capacity to routinely push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, kneel, etc., while handling such weight.
- Ability to wear a respirator.
- Completion of pre-employment background and drug screening, along with random drug screening as per Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements.
What is Preferred:
- Experience working with projects on a fixed budget.
- Prior involvement as part of a project team.
- Knowledge of mechanical behavior and properties, such as stress, strain, fracture toughness, stress intensity factor, and R-ratio.
- Previous experience in a corrosion testing laboratory.
