The manager will oversee occupational safety, track relevant metrics and KPIs, and ensure thorough reporting. Proficiency in both English and Spanish is highly preferred.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement proactive safety programs to cultivate a culture of safety and accountability, ensuring compliance with OSHA, federal, state, and local laws, and industry standards.
- Communicate the company's safety vision and values to team members, ensuring understanding, compliance, and acceptance of safety programs and policies.
- Ensure that safety and health training and documentation meet or exceed company and regulatory requirements, preparing team members for safe task and job performance.
- Collaborate with management and department heads to establish and maintain comprehensive safety training programs for all employees, including Lift Truck, Lock Out Tag Out, Bloodborne Pathogen, General Safety Inspections, SDS, PPE, and Hazard Communication.
- Implement and maintain an effective incident investigation process, identifying root causes and formulating corrective actions to mitigate exposure.
- Drive continuous safety improvements by auditing work areas, reviewing incident reports, and recommending enhancements to eliminate or reduce risk exposure.
- Organize and conduct company-wide safety meetings and training sessions as needed.
- Lead through influence and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
- Update and maintain accurate and efficient reporting mechanisms, including SDS and OSHA 300/300A/301.
- Work independently, motivated to achieve daily goals and objectives without direct supervision.
- Adhere to and support all applicable safety and GMP practices while performing job duties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in occupational safety and health or a related field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing and implementing safety programs, preferably in a food manufacturing environment.
- Preferred certifications: OSHA 501, CSP (not required).
- Excellent knowledge of OSHA CFRs and federal, state, and local regulatory standards applicable to general industry.
- Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred.
- Skilled in making verbal and written presentations and communicating effectively with others.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
