LocalEdge is seeking a Brokerage Placement Analyst - Garage Underwriter to join our growing team!

Join our dynamic Garage Department, where we specialize in underwriting for auto repair shops, auto dealerships, and a wide range of auto-related businesses. We're seeking a detail-oriented, relationship-driven underwriter with a passion for the automotive sector and a strong grasp of brokerage placement strategies.

How You Will Contribute :

  • Review and evaluate Property and Casualty new business and renewal submissions for acceptability, ensuring alignment with multiple company guidelines, including admitted and non-admitted markets.
  • Negotiate with precision coverage terms and requirements. Provide timely issuance of quotes and bind policies effectively.
  • Gather and maintain meticulous, organized, and complete underwriting files. Assess risks within established authority.
  • Ensure compliance with carrier guidelines, state regulations, and surplus lines requirements.
  • Cultivate strong connections with agents, internal teams, carriers, and external partners.

  • Achieve team / individual production goals through developing a profitable book of business and strategically growing both policies in force and premium.

  • Skillfully communicate, both written and verbally, to all stakeholders a clear and concise message.

  • Research agency, carrier, and market data for informed decision making. Collaborate with agents, internal teams, and carriers to identify profitable growth avenues.

  • Address inquiries within established service level standards and exhibit underwriting expertise. Educate agencies on carriers and products available in your area of expertise and guide agents beyond your focus area, referring opportunities as needed.

  • Meet the standards within the service level agreements and underwriting process requirements. Ensure coordination of own work with broader team and business unit priorities.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Active P&C and Surplus lines licenses (or ability to obtain within 45 days)

  • Professional designations such as CIC, CPCU, or equivalent.(preferred)
  • License/Certification/Designation: P&C License and Surplus Lines License or L&H License in all states (if required by product line) required within 45 days. CIC, CPCU or pursuit of technical insurance coursework (preferred)

Skills & Experience to b e Successful:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2 years of commercial lines binding authority underwriting experience(preferred)
  • Understanding of brokerage placement programs and techniques.
  • Acquires and maintains an understanding and adheres to state specific statutes involving underwriting, applicable insurance laws and regulations.
  • Ability to identify, evaluate, analyze, and recommend solutions to insurance needs.
  • Verbal and written communication skills to interact, influence and negotiate with internal/external business partners.
  • Ability to learn job-related software.
  • Key proficiencies include product acuity, functional/technical skills, command and consultation skills, interpersonal savvy, negotiating, consulting, problem solving, drive for results, handling and measuring work, and decision quality.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to changing situations.

Pay Range

$60k - $65k Annual

The pay range provided above is made in good faith and based on our lowest and highest annual salary or hourly rate paid for the role and takes into account years of experience required, geography, and/or budget for the role.
