Swiss Turning Machinist

Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate CNC Swiss turning machines to produce precision parts to exact specifications.
• Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical documentation.
• Inspect finished components to ensure conformance to dimensional and quality standards using precision measurement tools.
• Manually program and edit CNC Swiss turning programs (G & M code).
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to optimize machine processes.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required; technical degree, certification, or military training in machining preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience operating CNC turning machines, including 3-5 years specifically with Swiss-style turning machines.
• Demonstrated ability to machine to extremely tight tolerances (sub 0.0005 in / 0.0127 mm).
• Advanced knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
• Proficiency in manual G and M code programming.
• Skilled in the use of precision metrology tools (micrometers, calipers, indicators, etc.).
• Strong understanding of machining theory, materials, and tooling.
• Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to read complex technical drawings and blueprints.
• Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset.
• Self-motivated with strong time management skills
• Experience with CAD/CAM software (e.g., Esprit, Mastercam, NX).
• Familiarity with Star Swiss-style lathes.
• Tool grinding experience.
• Knowledge of advanced metrology systems such as CMMs.
• Background in New Product Introduction (NPI) environments.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs.
• Must be able to stand for extended periods and work around machinery.
