At iHire, we’re pretty proud of our resume database. As far as recruiting resources and candidate sourcing tools go, iHire’s resume search is at the top of the list. It’s the most accurate resume database out there. It’s also the most versatile resume database.
Best of all: iHire’s resume database is growing. Our team has worked hard the past few months to add over a million more resumes, bringing the total to 2.86 million active and passive candidates.
This post is about more than just tooting our own horn, though (sometimes we can’t resist). It’s hard not to get excited about the innovations we’ve made to our recruiting resources. There are a lot of new features you can incorporate into your existing recruiting strategies immediately. We’ll cover those and answer some common questions along the way.
Conducting a resume database search shouldn’t take a Ph.D., and we strive to make the process as easy as possible. However, you should know the basics of Boolean search to get the most out of our tool (for a refresher, read our excellent piece on how to find the right resumes using Boolean search).
Start your search by entering the job title you’re recruiting for along with any other keywords or skills as well as a location for your query. If you want to conduct a nationwide search, simply leave the location field blank. Also, if you have a certain candidate in mind, you can enter their name in the keywords box to find their resume.
Once you’ve clicked the “Find Resumes” button, you can narrow your resume database search further using our set of filters located on the left side of the page. Tighten your search parameters by incorporating career titles, years of experience, strengths/interests, education level, recent activity (or lack thereof), and relocation preferences. You can also choose to search a single iHire community or all 56 of our industry-focused sites.
There is no limit to the number of searches you can perform. However, iHire caps the number of resumes you can view at 600 per month.
Throughout 2017, the iHire team made it our mission to strengthen the recruiting resources we have to offer. One of our primary goals was to enhance the resume search tool by expanding the database (2.86 million resumes and growing!) and adding new features to make it even more useful for hiring managers and recruiters.
Here are a few of the highlights from that project:
Whether you’re hiring for two open positions or two hundred, you need to add resume search as part of your recruiting strategy. The current job market favors candidates, so it’s not nearly as effective to simply post a job and wait for applicants to come to you. Sourcing more passive candidates requires a proactive approach.
