Job Description: Veterinary Assistant/Technician (with Reception Duties)

We are a small, dedicated mobile veterinary practice looking for a compassionate and capable Veterinary Assistant (bonus if you are a licensed vet tech!) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care, maintain a positive attitude, handle the stress of multitasking with ease and have excellent customer service and communication skills. While your primary role will be assisting with patient care during exams, you’ll also help with some reception and administrative tasks, and if you are a licensed veterinary techinician you would prepare patients for sugery, monitor anesthesia and aid in recovery of patients. This is a long-term opportunity for someone who wants to be a key part of a supportive, close-knit team.

What we are looking for:

• Experience as a veterinary assistant (REQUIRED)
• Experience as a Veterinary Technician A PLUS
• Experience with reception/front desk tasks A PLUS
• Great phone etiquette and communication skills
• Confident, self-motivated, and able to work independently in the field but also knows when to ask for help
• Organized, able to multitask and manage stress in a fast-paced mobile setting
• Tech-savvy and comfortable with digital records and scheduling systems
• Problem-solving mindset and adaptability on the go
• Comfortable working with remote team members
• Experience or willingness to learn appointment scheduling based on mobile routes
• Doesn't get car sick ( A MUST)
• Pleasant and upbeat attitude
• Passion for animal care and client education
• Excellent patient handling skills, with a fear free focus
• For an LVT: comfortable and competent with anesthesia (EXPERIENCE A MUST)
• Honesty, loyalty, compatability A MUST

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

• Assisting in exams, handling patients, preparing and administering vaccines, collecting lab samples, etc
• Client communication and eduation in person or by phone/text/email.
• Help with scheduling, maintaining client records, preparing treatment plans.
• Processing payments
• Maintaining cleanliness, organization and readiness of the mobile clinic
• For an LVT: patient surgical prep, anesthesia monitoring and recovery of patients

Company Information:

At Your Door Mobile Veterinary Care, PC: we are a mobile veterinary service providing wellness, urgent (not emergency care) and surgical/dental services to dogs and cats within a 25 driving mile distance of Marlboro, NY.  We are a close knit one doctor, one assistant, one reception and one scheduler team. We have 1 assistant and 1 technician that work as needed. 

Salary: 36-40 hours a week, hourly rate range: $20-28 depending on experience and expertise
